Oakes achieved her greatest enduring popularity with her regular role as "Officer Bonnie Clark" on the hit TV show, CHiPs (1977). Randi met her future husband, Gregory Harrison, when they both appeared as contestants on the 1979 TV game-show special, Battle of the Network Stars VII (1979). They got married on December 21, 1980.

Randi Oakes started as a guest on CHiPs / Amazon. A guest appearance in the 1978 CHiPs episode “Down Time” saw Randi Oakes as a car thief. That quickly changed, as did the briefness of her appearances on the show. Soon after, she was Officer Clark. However, romance and work reportedly clashed when she was a series regular from 1979 to 1982.
Bonnie has a hot temperament and often goes her own ways. When she believes something happened, it's hard to tell her the truth. She has a heart of corn and takes care for the ones who need help. When Getraer is threatened by an old enemy, and Bonnie decides to give a whole family a new home in her apartment.
