Thompson Rivers University (commonly referred to as TRU) is a public teaching and research university offering undergraduate and graduate degrees and vocational training. Its main campus is in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, and its name comes from the two rivers which converge in Kamloops, the North Thompson and South Thompson.
Overview. Founded as Cariboo college in 1970, Thompson Rivers University (TRU) moved to McGill Road and became a university college in 1989 and began offering bachelor's degree programs to students from all over Canada and the world. The University is accredited by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skill and Training of British Columbia.

Thompson Rivers University (TRU) was established in 1970 as a public academic and research university. The main campus is located in Kamloops, British Columbia and it also has a campus in Williams Lake. In Kamloops, the main campus overlooks the junction of the North Thompson and South Thompson rivers, from which the university gets its name.
