One of his older brothers was film star Dana Andrews. [2] Forrest enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 18 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. In 1950, he earned a bachelor's degree with honors from UCLA, majoring in theater with a minor in psychology.
Andrews was then loaned to RKO to make Sealed Cargo (1951), in which his brother Steve Forrest has an uncredited role. (In a "Word of Mouth" commentary for Turner Classic Movies, Forrest stated, "I'd have given my eye teeth to have worked with him.")
He and his elder brother Dana Andrews made guest appearances in consecutive episodes of The Twilight Zone (1959): Andrews in No Time Like the Past (1963) and Forrest in The Parallel (1963).
