Born and raised in New Orleans, Craig Tracy, shown working above, first started body painting in 2002 and opened his Louisiana gallery, Painted Alive Bodypainting, in early 2006. Using a traditional paintbrush, an airbrush, sponges and finger-painting, Tracy's body paintings each take approximately one full day to complete.
Sep 19, 2016 · The South China Tiger Foundation approached Tracy with creating a work of art to help raise awareness and funds for their organization. Tracy says tigers have been his favorite animal since he was a child, so he was immediately interested. “It was the first time I ever created a piece that was specifically created for a charity,” he says.

The Process. The vast majority of Craig Tracy's paintings are authentic bodypaintings captured photographically without any substantial digital or non-digital manipulation. Some of his bodypaintings incorporate a backdrop. These backdrops are created and or meticulously hand painted by the artist in advance of actual bodypainting.
