American Flagg! is an American comic book series created by writer-artist Howard Chaykin, published by First Comics from 1983 to 1989. A science fiction series and political satire, it was set in the U.S., particularly Chicago, Illinois, in the early 2030s. [1]
Howard Chaykin is an acclaimed comic book writer and artist with credits such as American Flagg!, Star Wars, and Hey, Kids, Comics! He has worked extensively at Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Image comics from the early 1970s through the present day.

In 1988 a second series, now called Howard Chaykin's American Flagg!, sent Flagg to the USSR; it had 12 issues, with Chaykin editing, writing (with John Moore) and providing art direction. There was also a one-off American Flagg Special in 1986.
