Jul 22, 2013 · With some DVDs there's a long delay before a movie begins. No menus, nothing. With a couple of movies it's an extremely long delay (For example Hollow Man finally shows a menu after about 7.5 minutes of a blank screen - then you get a working menu. Windows Media Player begins Hollow Man immediately (but lack other functionality I need).
Jan 12, 2013 · Hi! I am unable to play dvd menu's on vlc player on mac osx and windows 7. It directly skips to 'title movie' and after the movie ends it goes to the main menu. I created the dvd in Apple DVD studio pro 4. The dvd plays fine on dvd players and other media player on computer. I am facing this problem for long time now.
You can get DVD players for like $50, low-end blu-ray seems double that usually due to adding on internet capability. DVDs are better for copying or burning, so piracy in one sense I guess. Seems to be much more used dvds than anything out there. DVDs often go as low as $1-4, Blu-rays at $7.
Zip and Jaz were popular for a time, but not like optical. And they were proprietary, so when Iomega's Zip hardware turned out to be shit, there weren't any longer lasting alternatives.
