- Resident Evil 4. Release Data: Capcom, 2005. Originally released for the GameCube, Resident Evil 4 makes few sacrifices in bringing all its glory to bear on the PS2 and delivers one incredible thrill after another.
- Silent Hill 2. Release Data: KCET/Konami, 2001. As a PlayStation 2 game, overall, Silent Hill 2 is graphically stunning, while providing a full production package of surround sound techniques and good voice acting to boot.
- Silent Hill 3. Release Data: KCET/Konami, 2003. All in all, Silent Hill 3 is an excellent addition to the series. There’s no remarkable new gameplay to speak of, so the game is clearly intended for fans of the series, who’ve been impressed over the years by Silent Hill’s unusually dark and psychological style.
- Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. Release Data: Tecmo/Ubisoft, 2003. Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly may be light on challenge, but it’s still rich in great, dark atmosphere.
- Silent Hill 2. Silent Hill 2 is not only one of the best survival-horror games on the PlayStation 2 but also one of the greatest survival-horror games of all time.
- Resident Evil 4. Resident Evil 4 was the first main game in the series to ditch the fixed camera angle perspective held in the first few instalments. This title also had a lot more action than previous games in the series, with large, over-the-top bosses and quick-time events that made it feel like an action movie.
- Clock Tower 3. The Clock Tower series had its start on the Super Nintendo with a Japanese exclusive entry where you played as a young girl running away from the Scissorman.
- Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly. In the Fatal Frame series, you must fight ghosts by taking pictures of them rather than attempting to fight them head-on.
- Silent Hill 2 (2001) Pyramid Head is one of the greatest horror creations of the past thirty years and his chilling presence still gives me the creeps, which is why Silent Hill 2 takes the top spot in this list of the best PS2 horror games of all time.
- Resident Evil 4 (2005) If you’re a PS2 fan, then I can probably assume correctly that you know all about the Resident Evil series including Resident Evil 4.
- The Suffering (2007) This survival shooter horror title is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen in my life. Surreal Software certainly lived up to their name with this game, and it’s one that you won’t forget in a hurry.
- Rule Of Rose (2006) Just check out how cool that game cover is! Rule of Rose is a psychological horror like Silent Hill and covers some pretty dark stuff that some people might find a little too intense.
The Thing is pretty awesome & underrated too. RE 4, The Thing. Manhunt is a really good one. If you like a horror/comedy, Evil Dead: Regeneration is a fun one. The Suffering. Fatal Frame is relatively cheap, and are very good games. Onimusha 1 has somewhat spoomy vibes and is literally old school RE with swords.
