India is divisible into four particular regions: the Himalayan Region, the Northern Plains, the Peninsular Plateau, the Coastal Plains, and the Islands.
On the south, India projects into and is bounded by the Indian Ocean—in particular, by the Arabian Sea on the west, the Lakshadweep Sea to the southwest, the Bay of Bengal on the east, and the Indian Ocean proper to the south.
The Indian Ocean reaches and connects four continents (Asia, Australia, Africa, and Antarctica), 18 countries in Asia, 16 countries in Africa, and at least 57 island groups. Aside from its high temperature, the low oxygen content in the Indian Ocean is also responsible for it having limited sea life.
The Indian Ocean is the third largest oceanic divisions in the world and covers one-fifth of the total ocean waters. It bounds the waters on the west of Africa, east of Malay Peninsula, Sunda Islands, Australia, south of Southern Ocean, and the north of Asia including the Indian peninsula.
