However, other settings they choose will force a criteria you have to meet in order to be able to send them messages. Some are obvious and discussed in the pof help page, such as only allowing upgraded members to contact.
1 y. When a woman fills out her profile on a dating site she may believe that men sending her "likes" is a cowards way and says so in her profile. When she publishes her profile she gets overwhelmed with men emailing her. So she disables messages and may even walk away from the site for a while because it's too much.

It demonstrates their utter greed, and willingness to shamelessly prey on the desperation of single people, while not caring about their mental health, as they just want their money.

Click the green “Save” check mark if using the Android app. Click “Update Profile” if using the iPhone app. If you’re using Plenty of Fish on your desktop, you also have the option to see other users’ mail settings to ensure you meet their criteria before trying to send a message!
