Tom Savini is an actor, stunt performer, director and make-up artist, credited as one of biggest influences within Hollywood’s horror movie productions. He is a legend within the world of special effects, known for his exemplary work on films such as the iconic Friday 13th, Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead.
Early life. Savini was born on November 3, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is of Italian descent. [3] He was raised Catholic and graduated from Central Catholic High School. As a boy, his inspiration was actor Lon Chaney Sr., and Savini attributes his earliest desires to create makeup effects to Chaney and the film Man of a Thousand Faces.
