Fort Dodge is a city in and the county seat of Webster County, Iowa, United States, along the Des Moines River. The population was 24,871 in the 2020 census, a decrease from 25,136 in 2000. Fort Dodge is a major commercial center for North Central and Northwest Iowa. It is located on U.S. Routes 20 and 169.

- Historic Mansion Tours. Ann Smeltzer House. One of the first things visitors want to know about the Ann Smeltzer House is if it’s haunted. It is not. But it’s home to immaculate art, beautiful furniture, and eccentric tales of the family.
- Blanden Memorial Art Museum. When it opened in 1932, the Blanden Memorial Art Museum became the first public art museum in Iowa. This institution is housed in an august Neoclassical building, built on private land and financed by one Charles Granger Blanden.
- The Fort Museum and Frontier Village. This enthralling outdoor museum takes you on a journey through time. You’ll start in the frontier days of the mid-19th century, when E Company of the 6th Infantry chose the junction of the Des Moines River and Lizard Creek as a spot to build a fort.
- Downtown Fort Dodge. If you’re a fan of architecture from the turn of the 20th century, Downtown Fort Dodge is a treasure trove. At that time, architectural firms like Liebbe, Nourse & Rasmussen and Proudfoot, Bird & Rawson purposely modeled this city on Chicago, giving it the nickname “Little Chicago”.
- Oleson Park. Fort Dodge’s favorite public park is in the south of the city, loaded with facilities but best-known for a structure built in 1938. A Works Progress Administration (WPA) project, the Oleson Park Music Pavilion is a striking monument, blending Modernist and Art Deco architecture.
- The Fort Museum and Frontier Village in Fort Dodge. The Fort Museum’s preserved original buildings include a cabin, a church, a one-room schoolhouse, a land office, a general store, a drug store, a livery stable, and several artisans’ shops.
- Blanden Memorial Art Museum. The poet Charles Granger Blanden was Fort Dodge’s youngest mayor. Years later, he donated $40,000 in 1930 (nearly $730,000 in 2023) to construct a neo-classical-style building on private land in his wife’s honor.
- Fort Dodge Grain Silo Mural. The 360-degree Fort Dodge Grain Silo Mural turned the former Fort Dodge Grain Terminal into Iowa’s largest mural. Clay deposits around Fort Dodge sparked a thriving pottery industry in the 1800s.
