Ike Clanton, c. 1881. Photo by C. S. Fly. Brothers Phineas Clanton and Billy Clanton. Joseph Isaac Clanton (c.1847 – June 1, 1887) was a member of a loose association of outlaws known as The Cowboys who clashed with lawmen Wyatt, Virgil and Morgan Earp as well as Doc Holliday.
Nov 11, 2020 · He was shot and killed on June 1st, 1887 near Eagle Creek in the White Mountains of eastern AZ. Two lawmen, Jake Brighton and Albert Miller, were attempting to arrest him for cattle theft at Jim “Peg Leg” Wilson’s ranch. Suddenly, Ike wheeled his horse around and bolted toward a thick stand of trees nearby.
Feb 2, 2023 · Deputy Rawhide Jake Brighton fired once. The bullet hit Ike and passed through his torso. Brighton fired again, grazing Ike's leg, and Clanton fell from the horse. By the time the deputy reached him, Clanton was dead.

He was holed up a few blocks away, in a law office on — ironically — Toughnut street.

Feb 22, 2013 · Well, he died anyway. Fatally wounded in a different shootout. After leaving Tombstone when the smoke from the OK Corral incident had cleared, Ike and his brother Phineas moved up north and began ranching in Graham County.
Dec 28, 2017 · When the shooting started Ike ran away and hid, leaving his 19-year-old Billy brother to die. Ironically the Earp’s and Doc Holliday might have been convicted of murder had Ike not testified for the prosecution. His testimony, full of outlandish tall tales snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
