Jan 15, 2019 · Ike Clanton, Billy Claiborne, and Wes Fuller were the only Cowboys who came out of the fight alive – and that was because they ran for their lives. 30 rounds were fired in a matter of 30 seconds behind the O.K. Corral.
The gunfight at the O.K. Corral pitted lawmen against members of a loosely organized group of cattle rustlers and horse thieves called the Cowboys. While lasting less than a minute on October 26, 1881, the gunfight has been the subject of books and films into the 21st century.

Wes Fuller. Cowboy Wesley Fuller, who had initially been at the back of the empty lot near the rear of Fly's studio, corroborated Clanton's version of events. He testified that he heard the Earps say, "Throw up your hands!" He said Billy Clanton threw up his hands, saying, "Don't shoot me! I don't want to fight!" and the shooting began immediately.
He states he was on Allen Street between Third and Fourth Streets, on the north side, just below the O.K. Corral, when he first saw Billy Clanton, Frank McLaury and Johnny Behan on Fremont. He relates of seeing Holliday put a six-shooter in his coat pocket at Fourth and Allen. Saw one in Morgan Earp's pocket, on the right side.
March 15, 1881. A stagecoach loaded with silver bullion is robbed by Cowboys outside of Contention City. In the ensuing gunfight, two passengers of the stage are killed, and one Cowboy is injured. Despite losing two of the three men on board, the stagecoach escapes the ambush.
Gunfight at the O.K. Corral is a 1957 American Western film starring Burt Lancaster as Wyatt Earp and Kirk Douglas as Doc Holliday, and loosely based on the actual event in 1881. The film was directed by John Sturges from a screenplay written by novelist Leon Uris .
