Athletic Districts. Article II of the TSSAA Constitution describes how the 95 Tennessee counties are divided into nine Athletic Districts for the purposes of administering the association.
The TSSAA (commonly pronounced "Tee double-S double-A") is the only high school athletic organization in the United States to have a five-sport, Olympic-style spring sport championship tournament, known as Spring Fling, for baseball, softball, track and field, team and individual tennis, and soccer.
Oct 8, 2017 · Commonly known as TSSAA, the Association exists “to stimulate and regulate the athletic relations of the secondary schools in Tennessee.” The group elected G. C. Carney of Nashville Central High School as its first president and named A. J. Smith, superintendent of the Clarksville schools, the first secretary-treasurer.
