Threshold Jewels are something we knew we wanted from very early in the design of the Jewel system. We even had an early version on the promotion page for The Awakening, showing a pre-beta version of a Jewel that granted +1 to the maximum number of curses you could apply to enemies.
Give most skills (including aura, counter, buff-based.. etc) threshold jewels and give them a complete makeover. Threshold jewels should definitely be as powerful as mid-game abyss/jewels. Also instead of multiple threshold jewels for 1 skill, give them randomness like watcher's eye.
Feb 7, 2022 · The Unique Threshold Jewels for Dual Strike, Magma Orb, Molten Strike and Fireball have been changed. They now provide effects that change how the skill is built or downsides to offset their beneficial effect, each acting as a way to change how you build or play a skill rather than a must-have boost at the cost of a jewel slot.
There are a few which used Elementalist and flat elemental damage from abyss jewels to scale the base ignite damage, but the fact that there were so few of these builds says all about how good ignite attack builds were before, and also how bad this new threshold jewel is.
