We issued a supplemental notice of proposed rulemaking (SNPRM) to amend 14 CFR part 39 by adding an AD that would apply to certain The Boeing Company Model 747–100, 747–100B, 747–100B SUD, 747–200B, 747–200C, 747–200F, 747–300, 747–400, 747–400D, 747–400F, 747SR, and 747SP series airplanes. The SNPRM published in the Federal Register on March 8, 2016 (81 FR 12041) (“the SNPRM”). Comments
We gave the public the opportunity to participate in developing this AD. We have considered the comments received. The Air Line Pilots Association International, Boeing, and United Airlines supported the SNPRM.
Conclusion
We reviewed the relevant data, considered the comments received, and determined that air safety and the public interest require adopting this AD as proposed, except for minor editorial changes. We have determined that these minor changes: 1. Are consistent with the intent that was proposed in the SNPRM for correcting the unsafe condition; and • Do not add any additional burden upon the public than was already proposed in the SNPRM.
