Cannon is a gorgeous mountain with amazing scenery. The grandeur that makes it breathtaking is also what makes it windswept and wicked icy when conditions aren’t fantastic. Of all of the mountains we ski in NH, we think Cannon is up there as the iciest.
Cannon Mountain is one of the shortest distance hikes of the NH 4000ers, but still is absolutely gorgeous. Located in Franconia Notch, it might be most notably be known for being the home of the old man on the mountain (not anymore). Access via Lafayette Campground, or Cannon Mountain Tramway.
At the top of Cannon Mountain and along the Kinsman Ridge Trail, there are phenomenal views and alpine forest. This trail is steep, with some sections of scrambling, eroded dirt, and rocky areas. Cannon Mountain is a peak in the White Mountains range of New Hampshire.
