The Eastern Romance languages are a group of Romance languages. The group, also called the Balkan Romance or Daco-Romance languages, comprises the Romanian language (Daco-Romanian), the Aromanian language and two other related minor languages, Megleno-Romanian and Istro-Romanian.
Out of the latter the Eastern Romance languages developed, resulting in four dialects: Daco-Romanian dialect became fully distinct from the southern dialect of Aromanian before the eleventh century, and from Istro-Romanian not before the thirteenth, while the position of Megleno-Romanian is unclear.

In the previous several postings we examined in great detail languages and dialects of the Western Romance dialect continuum and touched on languages of the Southern Romance branch (e.g., Corsican). Today, we will look at the remaining branch of Romance: Eastern or Balkan Romance.
