Sombor (Serbian Cyrillic: Сомбор, pronounced) is a city and the administrative center of the West Bačka District in the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. The city has a total population of 41,814 (as of 2022 [update] ), while its administrative area (including neighboring villages) has 70,818 inhabitants.

Famous Serbian poet Laza Kostić, after marrying Julijana Palanački from Sombor, became a member and later the president of the Reading Room in 1901, a position he held until his death in 1910.
