    •When Did ROBLOX Release

Developed by the aptly named ROBLOX Corporation, ROBLOX is not a single game but an online collection of games or experiences developed by other users. ROBLOX is available on various hardware, such as PC, Android, iOS, and Xbox One / Series X.

While ROBLOX is commonly known as a children's game, there are plenty of games on the platform which are fun for adults to enjoy too! You can check out our Top ROBLOX Games for Adults guide to check these out.

ROBLOX first released on September 1st, 2006. Despite this, most of its popularity as a platform came from the latter half of the 2010s. This is because ROBLOX was originally released in Beta under the name Dynablocks before changing its name in 2005 before its subsequent release.

The iOS and Android versions of ROBLOX were released in 2012 and 2014 respectively, with the first (and only) console release coming to Xbox One in 2015. It is uncertain when and if ROBLOX will be arriving on any other platforms at this time.

ROBLOX used to be playable on its home page on the website; however, that has since changed as many more games created on ROBLOX have become more demanding.

When downloading ROBLOX onto your PC, make sure that you are downloading it from the ROBLOX.com website only. Other sources may cause harm to your computer, and the only trustworthy source of the ROBLOX client download is via ROBLOX themselves.

Firstly, make sure you have created a ROBLOX account here. It's really quick and simple, only requiring your birthday, custom username, and password to sign up. If you're below the age of 13, make sure you have a parent or guardian's permission before setting up an account.

Once you've created an account, you'll be taken to a home page (as seen below), showing a profile image of your Avatar, which is your in-game character, username, and a set of games recommended for you and different games in different categories.

Once you've arrived at the home page, click on any game that looks appealing to you! You don't have to play it yet, but this is the easiest way to start downloading ROBLOX onto your computer. Once you've seen a good game, click on it, and it will load a new page with the game's description, user rating, and more.

Once you're on the game page, click the green button with the play icon, and a pop-up will ask you to download and install ROBLOX. Click the download and install to start downloading the file, called RobloxPlayerLauncher.exe. Once this is downloaded, click on the file, click run and it'll unpack the .exe file to install on your PC. You can Join the original game if you still want by clicking the join button, which appears with the ROBLOX download instructions.

Updating ROBLOX is really simple - regardless of the platform you are playing on. Google Play Store and the iOS App Store usually have auto-updates for Apps and Games on by default. When you try to load ROBLOX before your app has been updated, the game will give you the option to update and send you to your device's store page.

This is also the same with the Xbox One and Series X/S consoles. There's a dedicated Game Updates page via Games & Apps, but launching ROBLOX without the required update will push the Xbox to update automatically.

On iOS, Android, and Xbox, playing ROBLOX games created by other users is as simple as booting up the game on your device. Once you've loaded into ROBLOX, you'll have a huge selection of playable games right away!

The process is sort of similar for PC / Laptop users. Using your browser of choice, head to the ROBLOX Home page and find a game you like by using the dedicated search bar at the top of the page or by selecting one of the recommended games on the main page. Once you find a game, click on the game and click play, which will cause ROBLOX to run on your computer!
