There was no way for Hinata to know that fighting Pain would have made Naruto power up. Just like there was no way for Sakura to know that trying to talk Naruto down from his 4 tailed state wouldn’t have worked. You give Hinata credit for dumb luck and say Sakura is worse than useless for getting unlucky.
Sakura gets rekt in first two scenarios (assuming that post Sasuke leaving means pre-shippuden), wins with mid difficulty in Pain arc scenario and stomps in War arc and above. I think Hinata stomps in the pain arc seeing as Sakura only has super strength taijutsu that Hinata would destroy her in easily.
