Early Life. Pamela Suzette Grier was born May 26, 1949 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Gwendolyn and Clarence Grier. Within days, Pam was riding in the back of a car with her parents on their return to Colorado. Pam’s father served in the Air Force, so the family moved around a lot when she was young.
