The pyramid of Menkaure is the smallest of the three main pyramids of the Giza pyramid complex, located on the Giza Plateau in the southwestern outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. It is thought to have been built to serve as the tomb of the Fourth Dynasty Egyptian Pharaoh Menkaure .
Although his pyramid, named “Menkaure is divine”, is the smallest of the three pyramids of Giza, it is still one of the most impressive monuments of Ancient Egypt. There was a great deal of debate in antiquity regarding the pharaoh responsible for this pyramid.

Menkaure (flourished 25th century bce) was the fifth or sixth king of the 4th dynasty (c. 2543–c. 2436 bce) of Egypt; he built the third and smallest of the three Pyramids of Giza.

Jun 3, 2022 · Menkaure’s pyramid may be the smallest of the well-known Egyptian pyramids of Giza, but in its day it was the most beautiful. Once covered in pink granite from Aswan, now it has a huge hole in its north face, made in the 12th century by the son of Saladin in the hopes of finding treasure inside the building.
Menkaure’s pyramid had been explored in the 1830’s (using dynamite, no less). His carved granite sarcophagus was removed (and subsequently lost at sea), and while the Pyramid Temple at its base was in only mediocre condition; the Valley Temple was—happily—basically ignored.
May 21, 2024 · The southernmost and last pyramid to be built was that of Menkaure (Greek: Mykerinus), the fifth king of the 4th dynasty. It is 218 feet (66 metres) high, significantly smaller than the pyramids of Khufu (481.4 feet [147 metres]) and Khafre (471 feet [143 metres]).
