Lebanon (/ ˈ l ɛ b ə n ən / LEB-ə-nən, also locally / ˈ l ɛ b n ən / LEB-nən, Pennsylvania German: Lebnen) is a city [3] in and the county seat of Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, United States. [4] The population was 26,814 at the 2020 census. Lebanon was founded by George Steitz in 1740 and was originally named Steitztown. [5]

The Lebanon County historical society restored the tunnel. In spring the county host Union Canal Days. The tunnel park is the site of various activities. Canal boat rides are offered through the tunnel (for a fee). The site of the tunnel is the summit of the Union Canal. The summit leaked badly.
