Roy Albert DeMeo ( / dəˈmeɪoʊ /; September 7, 1940 [ 1] – January 10, 1983) was an American mobster in the Gambino crime family in New York City. He is notorious for heading a group known as the "DeMeo crew", which consisted of approximately twenty associates involved in murder, car theft, drug dealing, prostitution and pornography. [ 2] .
