Joseph Alt (born February 28, 2003) is an American professional football offensive tackle for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, earning two All-American honors before being selected fifth overall by the Chargers in the 2024 NFL draft.
Started all 13 games in 2022 and has been in the starting lineup at left tackle for 21 consecutive games on the Irish offensive line. Helped the Irish average 4.6 yards per carry during the 2022 season, racking up 2,457 total rushing yards which is the sixth-best total at Notre Dame since 1996.
Alt’s play is considered exceptional even based on high standards of Notre Dame, a 2023 Joe Moore Award semifinalist as the nation’s best offensive line and a program dubbed “ Offensive Line U ” because of its endless stream of top-tier talent up front.
