Burl Icle Ivanhoe Ives (June 14, 1909 – April 14, 1995) was an American musician, singer and actor with a career that spanned more than six decades. Ives began his career as an itinerant singer and guitarist, eventually launching his own radio show, The Wayfaring Stranger, which popularized traditional folk songs.
Actor: The Big Country. Burl Ives was one of six children born to a farming family in Hunt City, Jasper, Illinois, the son of Cordellia "Dellie" (White) and Levi Franklin Ives. He first sang in public for a soldiers' reunion when he was age 4.
Burl Ives was the voice of Sam the Eagle, the narrator of the classic Disneyland attraction "American Sings" (1974-1988) in Tomorrowland. He died from complications of mouth cancer at his home in Anacortes, WA.

Burl was born to Michael J. and Mary F. Ives on September 28, 1966, in St. Cloud, MN. He graduated from Sauk Rapids High School in 1985. Burl attended college in Fergus Falls, MN and then Moorhead State University, Moorhead, MN where he studied Political Science. He then went to work alongside his dad, Mike, in multiple family businesses.
