Neema Barnette is an American film director and producer, [1] [2] and the first African-American woman to direct a primetime sitcom. [3] Barnette was the first African-American woman to get a three-picture deal with Sony Pictures. [4] Since then, she accumulated a number of awards, including a Peabody, an Emmy and an NAACP Image Award.
