City Island is a neighborhood in the northeastern Bronx in New York City, located on an island of the same name approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long by 0.5 miles (0.80 km) wide. City Island is a wonderful enclave off the coast of the Bronx, accessible by mass transit (#6 train to pelham bay, then #29 bus) and cars, that offers an escape from the crowded city. while it is by no means the equivalent of Cape Cod or harbor towns in Long Island, it is great for a day excursion.
