Marty also won Academy Awards for Best Actor (Ernest Borgnine), Directing (Delbert Mann), and Writing – Screenplay (Paddy Chayefsky). James Dean was the first actor posthumously nominated for an Academy Award. He had died in a car accident on September 30, 1955, at the age of 24.
