Nora Dorothy Bernard (June 25, 1890 - December 15, 1955) was an American actress best known for The Rainbow (1917), The Little Gypsy (1915), and The Wild Goose (1921). She was married to A.H. Van Buren and they had one child. Bernard died in 1955 from a heart attack at the age of 61.
Although her name for years remained unknown to moviegoers, brunette Dorothy Bernard was one of the first American film stars. A member of the original Biograph stock company and thus predated Mary Pickford and the Gish sisters. Bernard enjoyed an immense popularity in tandem with Florence Lawrence and John Compson in the company's Jonesy comedies.
