Alex Shumway (born December 14, 1965), known professionally as Alex Vincent, is an American musician, songwriter, and actor who is best known as the drummer for the rock band Green River. Along with Mark Arm, Steve Turner, and Jeff Ament, he is one of its founding members.
In its first practice sessions in early 1984, Green River's members were vocalist Mark Arm, guitarist Steve Turner, drummer Alex Vincent (also known as Alex Shumway) and bassist Jeff Ament. Prior to joining Green River, they had played for a variety of rock, punk, and hardcore groups, often with overlapping lineups.
Formed by Mr. Epp alumnus Mark Arm, guitarist Steve Turner, drummer Alex Vincent, and bassist Jeff Ament, the band released their debut EP Come on Down in 1985.

Who is Alex Vincent? Alex Shumway was the drummer for the bands Spluii Numa and, later, one of the pioneers of the grunge scene, Green River. After the disbanding of Green River in 1987, he returned to college, eventually ending up in Japan working and studying international studies at Sophia University in Tokyo.
Ex's With Benefits formed in 2012 when Alex Vincent (founding drummer of the seminal "grunge" band Green River) had written some music for possible future recordings by Green River that never materialized.
