The Kowloon Peninsula is a peninsula that forms the southern part of the main landmass in the territory of Hong Kong, alongside Victoria Harbour and facing towards Hong Kong Island. The Kowloon Peninsula (to the south of Boundary Street) and the area of New Kowloon are collectively known as Kowloon.
Kowloon (九龍 Gáulùhng, "nine dragons" in Cantonese) is an urban peninsula on the mainland part of Hong Kong, to the north of Hong Kong Island, where the central business district is. The mountains that overlook Kowloon account for eight of Kowloon's nine dragons while, as the story goes, the ninth dragon refers to the emperor who counted them.
