Mar 6, 2018 · There is a small variation in the Si–M bond lengths in 10 (2.3398 (4) Å) and 12 (2.4990 (8) Å) when compared to the corresponding chloride analogues 7 (2.3458 (7) Å) and 9 (2.5086 (11) Å). The Si–F bond lengths in 10 and 12 are 1.6168 (8) and 1.6245 (14) Å, respectively.
Dec 22, 2019 · I think you need a source to support that Si–F is indeed the strongest single covalent bond; I was under the impression that B–F was the strongest (although that number is probably unduly influenced by backbonding in BF3 & similar compounds).
The polarity of bonds helps us understand non-covalent forces between molecules, such as hydrogen bonding and dipole-dipole interactions. It also helps us interpret the reactivity of molecules. For example, the Si-H bond (χ Si = 1.8, χ H = 2.1) is more hydride-like than the C-H bond (χ C = 2.5, χ H = 2.1).
