Proud Lake Recreation Area, just over 3,000 acres, is located on the scenic Huron River and borders Proud Lake. The park – located 40 minutes from downtown Detroit in Oakland County – is home to a modern campground, overnight lodging, boating access sites, fishing and paddling opportunities and an extensive trail system open to hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking.
This state campground is a hidden jewel in Southeast Michigan. Proud Lake used to have a "party park" reputation but not anymore. The campground is along Proud Lake and the Huron River and has 130 good size sites that are capable of handling most sizes of RVs. The electrical system has been redone and includes 30 and 50 amp service.
