If you are in downtown San mateo, you must check out this japanese garden. It's truly a hidden gem ! It's right in side of the central park. The admission is already free. They have couple sitting ares inside. The garden style is very authentic Japanese, I love the bridges, the pagodas are gorgeous, the pond is truly magical ...etc
