  8. Wake of the Red Witch is a really fascinating John Wayne film. He plays a really unlikeable lead, at least for the first act, and is a character filled with anger and hatred. It is rather like a dry-run for Ethan Edwards, in a way. Wayne has a lot more complex performances in his filmography than popular legend allows, this is one.
