The Island on Bird Street (Danish: Øen i Fuglegaden) is a 1997 Danish produced drama film directed by Søren Kragh-Jacobsen. It is based on the novel The Island on Bird Street.
The Island on Bird Street (Hebrew: האי ברחוב הציפורים; The Island on Birds Street) is a 1981 semi-autobiographical children's book by Israeli author Uri Orlev (אורי אורלב), which tells the story of a young boy, Alex, and his struggle to survive alone in a ghetto during World War II.
During World War II, twelve year old Alex, his father Stefan, their Uncle Boruch and Alex's pet mouse Snow live in Warsaw in the Jewish ghetto, around which the Nazis have erected a fence so that no one can get out.
Separated from his family in World War II, an 11-year-old (Jordan Kiziuk) hides from Nazis in the Jewish ghetto.
