The band was founded by Randy Owen ( lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and his cousin Teddy Gentry ( bass, backing vocals ). They were soon joined by another cousin, Jeff Cook ( lead guitar, fiddle, and keyboards ).
Teddy Gentry is a bass player, songwriter and harmony vocalist for the country super group Alabama. He formed the band with his cousin Randy Owen and Jeff Cook in 1969 and achieved 27 No. 1 hits and many awards.
