What is an alias? An alias is an additional email address associated with your Outlook.com account. An alias uses the same inbox, contact list, and account settings as your primary email address. You can sign in to your Outlook.com account with any alias—they all use the same password.
An alias is another email address or phone number that works with the same Microsoft account. When you change your email address, you have the choice of creating a new Outlook.com email address or using an email address from a different email provider (for example, gmail.com or yahoo.com.)

You can use any email address or phone number that you’ve listed as an alias to sign in. To make it more difficult for someone to break into your account, change your sign-in preferences to turn off any alias that you don't want used for accessing your account.

Select File > Options > Mail. Under Send Messages, check the box Always use the default account when composing new messages. Select OK. When you have set up multiple email accounts, you can choose which account to use when you send a message.
If your email recipients see only part of your name, such as your first name, but you want them to see your full name, you can easily make the desired change. The display might show only part of your name if you didn't type your full name when you first set up your email account.
