Magdalene College (/ ˈ m ɔː d l ɪ n / MAWD-lin) [7] is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. [8] The college was founded in 1428 as a Benedictine hostel, in time coming to be known as Buckingham College, before being refounded in 1542 as the College of St Mary Magdalene.

Magdalene College has the advantage of an attractive and convenient location on the banks of the River Cam, with the longest waterfront of all the Cambridge Colleges, and less than 5 minutes’ walk from the city centre.
Magdalene College, situated at the north-western side of Cambridge’s town centre, extends over both sides of River Cam. Throughout their daily lives, students walk across the First and then Second Court, marked by the imposing Pepys Library, to reach the Riverside Path next to the Fellows Gardens.
