Union Academy is a magnet middle school in Bartow, Florida. It dates to 1897 when it opened as an elementary school for African Americans. It was expanded to include a high school in 1923.
Union Academy in Bartow was named for the fourth African-American school in Florida, founded in 1867 by the Freedmen's Bureau in Gainesville. Enrollment continued to climb through the 1920's forcing the addition of satellite classrooms at the Knights of Pythias Hall.
