Geographie. Die Gemeinde liegt am nördlichen Ende des Sarnersees auf 470 m ü. M. im Sarneraatal. Der tiefste Punkt ist der Wichelsee auf 459 m ü. M., der höchste Punkt ist der Fürstein mit 2040 m ü. M. Zur Gemeinde Sarnen gehören die Ortsteile bzw. Weiler Bitzighofen, Kägiswil, Kirchhofen, Ramersberg, Stalden und Wilen/Oberwilen.
