Henry Cavill has revealed the first official look at The Witcher Season 2 by sharing two images of Geralt of Rivia suited up in his new armour.
Cavill shared the new photos on Instagram on Monday, alongside a quote from Time of Contempt, the second novel in the Witcher Saga written by Andrzej Sapkowski.
"'It may turn out,' said the white-haired man a moment later, 'that their comrades or cronies may ask what befell these evil men. Tell them the Wolf bit them. The White Wolf. And add that they should keep glancing over their shoulders. One day they'll look back and see the Wolf,'" he wrote in the caption.
Netflix also released the images on its NX Twitter account, offering fans a closer look at Cavill's return as Geralt. In the photos, the actor appears in an all-black studded leather outfit with large shoulder plates and extended wrist cuffs, together with some belt and buckle detailing to ensure that he's harnessed in for all of the battles and bloodshed that may lie ahead in Season 2 of The Witcher.
Cavill previously spoke about his commitment to the character, as he revealed that he would sometimes roll about in the mud in order to achieve Geralt's unkempt look. He admitted that he was so devoted to the transformation that he wanted to try and get "as much of the world on him" so that he "looked like he had lived within it," so don't expect his armour to look quite as pristine when it debuts next season.
Netflix announced that filming had resumed on The Witcher's highly anticipated second season in August following a five-month production shutdown as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Witcher Season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in 2021, with Season 3 now seemingly confirmed to follow at a later date.
