3. Votes. There are parking meters all around the park as it is in the centre off the city. There are also several parking lots close to the park if you can't find a meter. The Halifax Public Gardens was established in 1874 by the amalgamation of two older gardens, the Nova Scotia Horticultural Society Garden (laid out in 1837) and an adjacent public park (opened in 1866). In 1872, Richard Power was hired as the park's superintendent.
• Please use the waste receptacles available throughout the Gardens. • Please use the established pathways rather than the grass to enjoy the garden vistas. Lawn activity is encouraged on the Family Lawn Area located at the Spring Garden and Summer Streets area. • Bike Parking is available outside the main gate.
