Mast cell tumors come in many shapes and sizes. They are more often seen in middle-aged and older dogs but can affect younger dogs too. Below are several pictures showing mast cell tumors:

    • Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) are localized malignant tumors that develop in skin cells. They can cause tissue damage around the tumor but rarely spread to other areas of the body.
    • Fibrosarcoma. Fibrosarcomas usually grow slowly and rarely metastasize. However, they can invade the surrounding tissue and underlying muscles. Roughly 70% recur within a year following surgical removal.
