Adam Sandler has scored a career-best Rotten Tomatoes review rating with his latest role in the new Netflix movie You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.
The coming-of-age comedy, which started streaming on August 25, is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 96% approval rating from critics. The near-perfect score makes it Sandler's highest-rated movie on the review-aggregation website, shooting ahead of 2022's basketball drama Hustle, which has a 93% rating.
Netflix's Bat Mitzvah movie is a real Sandler family affair as it stars Adam and his wife alongside their two daughters. Sunny Sandler takes the lead role of Stacy Friedman, while Sadie Sandler, Sunny's real-life sibling, plays Stacy's older sister Ronnie Friedman. Jackie Sandler, Adam's wife, portrays Gabi, the mother of Stacy's BFF.
The movie is an adaptation of Fiona Rosenbloom's 2005 novel of the same name. So far, 53 critics have reviewed the film on Rotten Tomatoes, with 51 giving it a positive reaction. The audience score tells a slightly different story as it currently sits at 66%, though there are more than 250 fan ratings contributing to that.
Sandler, who makes movies exclusively for Netflix these days, has starred in a number of top-rated films throughout his career. Other popular titles include 2017's Noah Baumbach-directed feature The Meyerowitz Stories, which has a 92% approval score on the site, and the Safdie brothers' 2019 film Uncut Gems, which sits at 91%.
Of course, the score for Sandler's latest flick could alter in the next few weeks as additional reviews come in, but as it currently stands, it sounds like you might need to RSVP to You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah before the actor's next project, an animated musical movie called Leo, hits Netflix later this year.
