The museum also has a large collection of works by Van Gogh’s contemporaries and works that influenced his own style, including his collection of Japanese prints.
The Van Gogh Museum opened in the Museumplein in Amsterdam in 1973. [ 313 ] It became the second most popular museum in the Netherlands, after the Rijksmuseum, regularly receiving more than 1.5 million visitors a year.
