The following is a list of American Ninja Warrior obstacles and their descriptions.
Obstacles are organized based on the round and season in which they debuted. Obstacles that returned in a different round compared to the round in which they debuted will only be counted in the latter category to avoid double-counting. However, there are a handful of exceptions:
•Significant Modifications: An obstacle that debuted in the City Qualifiers/Qualifying round and returned in the City Finals/Semifinals round often do so with major changes to the obstacle's function. Both versions will be listed.
•National Finals: An obstacle that debuted in the City Qualifiers/Qualifying or City Finals/Semifinals round and later appeared in the National Finals (or vice versa) will be listed in both rounds. Since obstacles that fall under this category often include major changes before reappearing in a different round.
•Early Reappearance: An obstacle that debuted before American Ninja Warrior 12 and returned in a different round compared to that in which it debuted in (also before that season) will be double-counted. During that season, the format of American Ninja Warrior changed from "touring" the United States of America and featuring different obstacles in each region to consolidating both rounds in fewer cities and having different Qualifiers/Semifinals rounds that shared obstacles. An obstacle that reappeared in any Qualifiers or Semifinals course starting from American Ninja Warrior 12 will only be counted in the course in which it debuted.
•The main exception is Swapped Obstacles: In American Ninja Warrior 10: an obstacle in each City Qualifiers course was swapped out for a different obstacle in another course prior to the City Finals round. For example, Fly Wheels, which appeared in the Miami course, was swapped out for the Cannonball Drop, which first appeared in the Indianapolis course. These obstacles will not be double-counted; without a significant difference between their appearances between rounds of competition or previous seasons, and because this change only stayed for one season, it is not necessary to place them in two separate rounds. However, their appearance in a different City Finals course will be included in their slot: for example, Fly Wheels, which is listed in the Qualifiers table, will include both its appearance in ANW10's Miami Qualifiers and Indianapolis Finals.

The second ledge was on an incline, and ninjas had to lache to the third ledge rather than reaching over. \tSASUKE 23 Jumping Bars\t\tNinjas must lache across four hanging bars. \tSASUKE 23 Hang Climbing/ Hang Climb\t\tNinjas must climb a 45-degree inclined climbing wall using their hands and feet. \tSASUKE 23, ANW 4-8 Spider Flip\t\tNinjas must use their arms and legs to climb an L-shaped beam and make a 180-degree jump to another beam. \tSASUKE 23, ANW 4-6 Gliding Ring/Final Ring\t\tNinjas must ride a ring down a track and dismount to the landing platform. \tSASUKE 23 Roulette Cylinder\t\tNinjas must use their upper body to roll a steel cylinder with protruding spikes down a track with two drops in it. \tSASUKE 26, ANW 4-5 Doorknob Grasper\t\tNinjas must user their upper body to swing across several spinning doorknobs. \tSASUKE 26, ANW 4-7 Cycling Road\t\tNinjas must swing across four spinning wheels. \tSASUKE 26 Ultimate Cliffhanger\t\tNinjas must use their upper body to traverse several ledges of different heights, lengths, and angles. Over the years, there have been several significant modifications: •In ANW 7, ninjas had to make a Crazy Cliffhanger transition to a hanging board with a Cliffhanger ledge that they must traverse from left to right. •In ANW 8, ninjas had to plant their feet on a footrest below the fourth ledge, make a 180-degree jump to a floating ledge with Cliffhanger ledges that they must traverse from left to right, make a lateral lache to the second hanging board, and make a Crazy Cliffhanger jump back to the final ledge of the original wall. •In ANW 10, the wall was replaced with smaller transparent Plexiglass walls, the fourth ledge was divided into two smaller sections that required more but smaller moves, and the gap between the hanging boards was decreased. •In ANW 11, the footrest and first hanging board was removed, more ledges were added to the Plexiglass walls, the final ledge was shifted to the left, and the remaining hanging board was divided into two smaller boards.
