John Scott Duarte (/ d u ˈ ɑːr t eɪ / doo-AR-tay; born September 9, 1966) is an American politician, businessman, nurseryman, and pistachio farmer. A member of the Republican Party, he has served as the U.S. representative for California's 13th congressional district since 2023.
Currently, Congressman Duarte is serving his first term in the 118th Congress as Representative of California’s 13th District. He and his wife, Alexandra have run a farming operation of vineyards and orchards together in the Central Valley since 1989.
John strongly opposes Critical Race Theory and other anti-American teachings in our K-12 schools and colleges. John was born in Modesto and lives there on an almond farm with Alexandra, his wife of 26 years. They raised their four children there and sent them to local public schools. John co-founded Duarte Nursery with his family in 1989.
